Product: BizInsight
Applies to: MAS 500
Article Type: Problem

Summary:
One of BizInsight's primary functions is to drill-down on a formula or to refresh a workbook. This is done by right-clicking on a BizNet formula and selecting ‘BizExcelerator’. Occasionally, this option will not be available for various reasons.

Details:
Microsoft Office applications can disable add-ins that behave unexpectedly while they are being loaded. If an application does not load your add-in when you try to use it, the application might have hard disabled or soft disabled your add-in.

There are different processes for re-enabling add-ins, depending on the application.

Resolution/Workaround:
1.  Verify that the add-in is installed.

Make sure your cursor is positioned on a cell containing a BizInsight before attempting to right-click.
Verify the add-in is listed under Tools>Add-ins

Also, if using Excel XP or Excel 2007, check the COM Add-Ins under Excel Options>Add-Ins>COM Add-Ins

2.  The add-in may have been hard-disabled.
Hard disabling occurs when user code that runs while the add-in is loaded causes the application to close unexpectedly, and when you stop the debugger while the constructor or the Startup event handler is executing.

To re-enable an add-in that has been hard disabled by Microsoft Excel 2003:

  • On the Help menu, click About Microsoft Excel.
  • Click Disabled Items.

  • Select the BizExcelerator for MAS500 add-in and click Enable.

To re-enable an add-in that has been hard disabled by Excel 2007:

  • In the application, click the Microsoft Office Button.
  • Click the Excel Options button.
  • In the categories pane, click Add-ins.
  • In the details pane, check to see if the BizExcelerator Shared Add-In is listed under Disabled Application Add-ins.
  • If the add-in is listed there, go to the Manage drop down list at the bottom,click Disabled Items, and then click Go.
  • Select the BizExcelerator for MAS500 add-in and click Enable.
  • Click Close.

If none of the above options work and you are using Excel 2003 you may have to modify the registry to resolve the issue.  This is because Excel 2003 does not provide a COM Add-in management option.

WARNING:  Incorrectly changing the registry can cause your system to become unusable.  Please backup your registry before making any changes or request your IT support staff to make the change for you.

Copy and paste the following text into Notepad and save with a .reg extension:

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\Excel\Addins\ExceleratorSharedAddIn.Connect]
"Description"="BizExcelerator"
"FriendlyName"="BizExcelerator"
"LoadBehavior"=dword:00000003

Double-click the .reg file to load this entry into the registry.
Check the registry setting referenced above to confirm that the change was made. Open the Registry Editor and navigate to [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\Excel\Addins\ExceleratorSharedAddIn.Connect].  Double-click on the ExceleratorSharedAddIn.Connect key and verify that Load behavior is set to 3

If the registry key has been corrected and the option is still missing, there most likely has been a change with the user's profile. To verify, have the user log on to another machine with BizInsight installed. Check to see if the right-click option is available. Also have a different user log on to the original machine and check for the missing option. If the menu is available under these conditions, the user's profile will need to be rebuilt.

If the provided Resolution/Workaround does not resolve your issues, please contact BizNet Software Support for further assistance.
