Error: -2147467259:[Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Data source name not found and no default driver specified
Product: BizInsight
Applies to: EAS
Article Type: Error
Summary:
This error message will appear after a BizInsight formula is entered and “OK” is clicked:
-2147467259:[Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Data source name not found and no default driver specified
Details/Resolutions:
Typically, this error message occurs as a result of one of three conditions involving your ODBC connection.
1. The InsightConfig.xml file is either missing or incorrectly named. This file is what tells the application where to connect. If it is invalid, no connection will occur.
2. You have installed BizInsight and configured it to connect to an Oracle data source, but no Oracle ODBC driver has been installed on the user’s desktop.
3. You have installed BizInsight and configured it to connect to a SQL Server data source, but no SQL Server driver has been installed on the user’s desktop. By default, Windows XP has most of the Microsoft-based ODBC drivers, including SQL Server, so this is typically not an issue.
Resolution/Workaround:
To troubleshoot and resolve this issue, do the following:
1. Check your InsightConfig.xml. Refer to the BizExcelerator for SunGard EAS Installation and Reference Guide Chapter 6. This will explain how to select and edit the InsightConfig.xml file.
2. If connecting to an Oracle database, check to make sure the Oracle ODBC driver is installed. To check which drivers are installed on Windows XP:
a. Click on Start and select the Control Panel
b. Double-click Administrative Tools
c. Double-click Data Sources (ODBC)
d. Click on the Drivers tab and check to see if the proper driver is installed. The presence of the “Microsoft for Oracle ODBC Driver” does not mean that the Oracle ODBC driver is installed. Instead, look for an “Oracle “YOURVERSION” or some variation. If there is no Oracle driver, you will need to install the Oracle ODBC driver.
3. If connecting to a SQL Server database, confirm that there is a SQL Server driver installed on the user’s desktop. The SQL Server driver will show up on the Drivers tab as “SQL Server”.
