Error: There was a problem obtaining Third Party Security Verification

Summary:
When dragging and dropping a function to test an XL Connect installation, the following error occurs:
“There was a problem obtaining Third Party Security verification. Operation aborted.”

Details:
This error will occur if the server connection information was not provided for the Ctrl DataSource in the BizFunctions.xml when it was configured.

Resolution/Workaround:
Open the BizFunctions.xml and locate the Ctrl DataSource entry.  Update the “Server=”, “Database=” and authentication method information for this DataSource with the information for your Epicor control database.  Close and reopen Excel after making these changes to ensure that the new information is read.
