Product:  BizInsight
Applies to:  V4-All
Article Type:  Error

Summary:
After installing BizInsight Build 69 or higher, the following error occurs when opening Excel:

“Could not locate ‘RestrictedFunctions.txt’.  Please select a valid path.

Details:
This error will occur for two reasons:
1.  During installation, the shared network directory was not specified when asked for.
2. The Administration path needs to be changed to point to the shared network directory.
3.  The Administration path was reset to default by a Microsoft Update. Microsoft has released security updates that have reset our paths to default.  This is not a frequent occurrence and is solved by resetting the Administration path to point to the correct directory.

Resolution/Workaround:
To resolve this issue, do the following:

1. If your shared network directory exists, check to see if the file named “RestrictedFunctions.txt” is in the directory.  If it is not there, you need to uninstall BizInsight and reinstall, providing the path to the shared network directory when prompted.  The key step is to choose the “This is the first time I have installed this product” radio button.  This is likely the step missed in the first installation.

2. If the RestrictedFunctions.txt file is located in the shared network directory, you need to change the Administration path to point to the shared network directory.  To do this, do the following:
     a. Open the Application Settings dialog.
         i. For Excel 2003, display the BizInsight toolbar by clicking on View > Toolbars > BizInsight.  Once the BizInsight toolbar is displayed, click on the App
            Settings button.
ii. For Excel 2007, click on the BizNet Software tab on the ribbon and click on the Application Settings button.
     b. Click on the Browse button for the Administration path and browse to the shared network directory.
     c. Click OK to close the Application Settings dialog.
     d. Click OK to any other messages that are displayed then close and reopen Excel.

If the provided Resolution/Workaround does not resolve your issues, please contact BizNet Software Support for further assistance.
